Our safety
When the user is a child
When the user is a child, the safest choice must be the default choice, not one someone has to search for in a settings menu. This is our stance before it is a feature in any specific product.
Four design decisions
Every commitment is a design decision, not a slogan
We collect as little data as possible in every experience. What we never collect needs no protection and cannot leak.
We use no addictive techniques such as daily streaks or random rewards. An experience's success is not measured by a child's inability to stop.
We design a role in every experience that parents know about and can take part in, not a hidden one they discover by accident.
When there is no reward loop pushing a child to keep going, every scene needs a clear end where the child feels accomplishment, not a sense of missing out.
Safety starts in the design
A screen-free device, built on the same idea
We are preparing an early-childhood device where kids play and learn with no screen at all: things to touch, stories to hear, and daylight is enough. It is being prepared for manufacturing, and that is all we will say for now.
